
Bob is a seasoned executive with C level experience in restructuring businesses, general operations management, and acquisitions and divestitures. As a fully credentialed life insurance actuary, Bob developed “financial engineering” skills in his early career – analyzing and designing long term financial and risk management structures.
Beginning with undergraduate degrees in Math and Economics, he added a master’s designation from the University of Michigan through an Executive Development program focusing on corporate strategy. After extensive experience in product design, marketing and operations, Bob served as president of Travelers Life Insurance Company. He led a major, very successful restructuring of operations. He spent close to three years as Managing Director of Insurance for Fleet Financial Group in the mid 1990s. Bob, his wife Marie, and their four children moved to Greenville, SC in 1999 as he assumed the role of president and CEO of Liberty Life Insurance Company. He moved the Liberty executives and the company through a major restructuring – increasing the value of the company.
Bob played a leadership role in developing a corporate restructuring strategy and in negotiating the divestiture of major businesses. Bob brings skills in business and financial analysis to help determine and fine tune strategy and performance. He has proven communication skills – moving a team, collaborating with stakeholders, and negotiating with counterparties.
